Great Short Read!

I'm an avid Lucy Monroe fan and have read all of her books. I enjoyed this short story very very much. Kiki totally rocked, I loved that she stood up for herself and when confronted by a rival she let her have it with both barrels, not a typical reaction!! having said that I was disapointed that Mich is the heir when in his parents book his sister was born first and Kiki is an only child when in her parents book it ended with Amber having twin boys. Please Ms. Monroe don't do that again, but do keep up the great reads!

I've never read a Lucy Monroe book that I didn't like, including this one though I would have liked to read a full length story she was still able to make it seem believable. The only problem I had was Lucy forgot that in The Scorsolini Marriage Bargain's epilogue it was Mich's sister that was born first, other than that I had no problems with this story. So no ones confused like I was Mich is Claudio and Therese's son from The Scorsolini Marriage Bargain (Harlequin Presents) and Kiki is Miguel and Amber's daughter from Taken: The Spaniard's Virgin (Harlequin Presents).

I loved the story but the birth placement were incorrect in the book : taken the spaniard's virgin, at the end the chanters had twin boys. In the scorsolini marriage bargain, the daughter was born first. It took away from the story. i hate when the author cant be bothered to keep to the correct information in her sequals

Repetition, repetition, repetition. I sound like a broken record, but if you take the time to read and fill it out, you will memorize the important information such as the normal length of a PRI, and be able to make a sound diagnosis of an ecg.

This book is amazing. It teaches you basic concepts and feels repetitive at times but the manor in which the book presents the material to you is smart in which you will never forget what you have just read! Also the flashcards are an excellent idea, I wish more books came with Flashcards that are already complete for you. This book was also recommended by many of my instructors at class.

This Is the Big One of American English Dictionaries in Paperback and It's Well Edited and Comprehensive, Too!

I have used various editions of Funk and Wagnalls' hardback and paperback dictionaries for many, many years, indeed, for most of, firstly, my adolescence, and, then, my adult life (my present age getting close to 70 years long now!). However, I have made resort to the large Standard and College editions in hardback binding of this trusty dictionary less and less frequently in recent decades; Funk and Wagnalls, while of sterling reliability due to its conservative (so far, I think, I hope, to the present!) approach to lexicography, can be just a tad too stodgy for primary reference: too little slang, just a bit too unbending in some ways. Since the 1980s or so, my preference for the Webster's "New World" college editions in a single hardback volume (always my favourite, anyway, in each and every one of its four major editions thus far), and, to a lesser extent, the American Heritage full and college editions in hardback, finally have usurped the place that Funk and Wagnalls once had for me.

Of course, living in Québec, within the Canadian context, I also use the Chambers, Cassells, and Gage dictionaries of English quite extensively, since American spelling and pronunciation (which, of course, prevail in the dictionaries of Funk and Wagnall, American Heritage, and in any Webster) are not sufficiently close to Commonwealth and Canadian usage. However, I utilise these British and Canadian dictionaries, in fact, mostly for just that, spelling (especially Chambers) and pronunciation (Gage above all), as well, of course, for words and uses that American English does not represent, while I nonetheless prefer the Webster "New World" and American Heritage hardback editions for definitions, usage levels, and etymology. I only add that I am an avid user of dictionaries and make resort to a very wide variety of other dictionaries besides those which I discuss here!

What makes the case different in evaluating single volume paperback dictionaries is that Funk and Wagnalls simply packs the most vocabulary into a compact volume (fatter than most paperback books, dictionaries or otherwise, but still very portable and economical of space needed to keep it at hand and also reasonably legible without undue eye strain) than any other widely published and distributed softcover dictionary. The paperback dictionary editions deriving from the Webster's "New World" and American Heritage Dictionaries are yet more beautifully edited in their compact paperback formats as, of course, they are in hardback editions, but they just do not include a wide enough vocabulary base to suffice verification needs when reading fairly sophisticated book and periodical literature. (This is so despite the fact that their hardback sister editions, of course, are magnificent in those regards!) Another widely-found and very comprehensive paperback dictionary is Scribner-Bantam's (which comes in single volume and in two-volume alternatives, both compact), but the Scribner-Bantam's paperback dictionary sacrifices some features of a full dictionary which Funk and Wagnalls paperback editions manage to retain, so, due to that, Scribner-Bantam's just does not quite measure up to the same standard that Funk and Wagnalls sets.

When I read in a room in which I seldom or never would study, or "on the hoof" from one place to another, it will remain the Funk and Wagnalls paperback dictionary that has my user allegiance!

This book is decent.

Pros: good systematic method of approaching the encounters. Mnemonics are easy to remember and make sense. The strategies it continually goes over do come together to make a sound cohesive method to the encounter. The humanistic domain & history taking chapters are solid. The complaints in the simulated cases are a lot of 'most commons' and probably more likely to show up on your PE. The cases include a blank soap note so you can practice writing them out.

Cons: I expected some OMM suggestions for complaints and there are none. I figured that if the book is aimed at the osteopathic exam then it would have a little more osteopathic emphasis. Not much in the simulated cases as far as ideas for differential/plan.

I think the First Aid book is better - includes differentials and plans/workup on top of what this book offers. Use Savarese and/or Nicholas & Nicholas for the Osteopathic stuff.

Very good and helpful!

For those of you who wonder how they grade test takers, this book has it. This test is a big waste of money and time. It's just another way to for the AOA to make $$$, but you have to pass it anyway.

When I was a student, I had no idea what criteria they used to pass students. This book has it. You will not find the criteria online. Instead, you always hear vague "criteria" on what people think they did to pass. Just buy this book. You'll wont regret. I had the mistake of relying on the USMLE CS and that didn't help for COMLEX PE.

Great last minute review for the PE!

Awesome book. I read this book in its entirety on the plane to Conshohocken, PA for my COMLEX PE. It had everything I needed (besides a few pertinent osteopathic treatments I reviewed from another book). I passed and it was the main resource I used!

About the Author

Steve Gladis serves as president and CEO of Steve Gladis Communications (SGC), an executive communications firm focused on helping leaders communicate for success. Offering professional development and training programs, executive coaching and advising, and corporate consulting, SGC abides by one basic value--respect for our clients and our strategic partners. Dr. Gladis has taught hundreds of clients from a host of companies in the Northern Virginia Region, including Cox, Lockheed Martin, SAIC, Anteon, FBI, Justice, DEA, Labor, EPA, The Washington Post, Gannett News, and many others.

A former member of the University of Virginia's faculty, Dr. Gladis served as an Associate Dean in the School of Professional Studies and the Director of the University's Northern Virginia Center. In a previous career as an FBI special agent, he taught at the FBI Academy, was the editor of the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, and the chief of speechwriting for the director of the FBI, and held a number of both headquarters and field-agent assignments around the country. Childish Incoherent Attempts On An Interesting Subject - meh!

This book is wasting to many pages on introducing Personality Types and other books do that much better. This goes on. Lot's of pages are wasted by introducing the concepts of Freewriting, Freelisting (Outlining), Freespeaking (Talk) and Freewebbing (Dawing Mind Maps). As if as writers or editors didn't know about them already. Then another bunch of pages are wasted on giving us imagined sample memo's written by "diverse" Personality Types.
There is another problem and that's that this book can't decide which audience it is written for. Is it for you the writer, or for you, who's giving the writer a job in a corporate, that doesn't have "writing" at it's core even (like Television does)? The book can't decide and it's not so much you can see a jumping around of viewpoints, i could almost swallow that, it's a basic conceptual flaw seeping through all the pages. So this book has a split personality not by design but, i guess, because of the inabilities of it's writer.
One last flaw is equating Personality Type not so much with process (how one "writes" "conceptualizes") but with content. Thinkers like to write Technical stuff. Oh now really? This is ridiculous! "Luckily" process is being looked at also, but then, why not stick to this more intelligent scheme?

To sum this up: If you are a writer and have already explored Personality Types this book is not for you. If you are neither, several others are, but most certainly not this one. Do not buy. It's like a paper from a second year university student.
