About the Author
I’m an educator, energy kinesiologist, energy healer and an author. I live part time in Hawaii where I swim daily and frequently encounter my friends the Hawaii spinner dolphins. During the winter months humpback whales visit our local waters. I’ve had some profound encounters with these great beings. I also live in the Colorado where my experiences with dolphins whales began in my Denver-Metro healing sanctuary. In 1997 or so, my young clients began to experience dolphin visions as did my adult clients. This was a startling development. I began to do research on this phenomenon. I found that there were other energy healers in the world who had similar experiences as they provided hands on energy healing to clients. I also connected with scholars, biologists and others who were experiencing their own telepathic communications with cetaceans. Shortly after my clients began having their visionary experiences with dolphins, I heard a scholarly lecture on The Legend of the Golden Dolphin. The Legend addresses the past, present and future relationship between cetaceans and humans. Ancient myths and legends refer to the complex bond between dolphins, whales and human beings. In the here and now, people like myself, have been summoned to rekindle this ancient bond. After attending this lecture on The Legend I began to receive and record a fascinating book for children. What emerged was a children’s version of The Golden Dolphin Legend. The contents of the book kept changing as I experienced deeper levels of personal and spiritual growth. The book, Splash!, is now published and available! I began developing a healing system based on light filled lessons I received from the Ascended Masters and my mentor and teacher, Avatar Sathya Sai Baba, who resided in India and is now ascended. The healing system provides one with a special, practical way to release and transform fear encountered in daily life. This is a healing system modeled on the healing methods dolphins use with their pod members. I began using these healing methods with clients. I developed courses to teach others to use the methods in their daily lives. I’ve been field testing these methods for several years. I have found that use of these methods in my daily life makes everything flow with impressive ease. My purpose is ultimately to spark the connection between cetaceans and humans so we may co-create world peace. I do so through books, courses, healing sessions and products.

Access to the healing power of dolphins from home

I live in Hungary, more than 7000 miles from Hawaii. I never met the dolphins and whales appearing in this book physically. I contacted their healing frequencies through Kathryn's writings, transmissions and essences. They played a vital role in my awakening process, and helped a lot in healing my heart. Getting rid of our mental and emotional packages is quite challenging, and the cetaceans offer us an invaluable help on this journey. And the miracle is, that this assistance of dolphins and whales - thanks to Kathryn's work - is available in your living room, wherever you live on Earth. I highly recommend Ashram of the Sea, a book which reveals in detail the complex energy-healing system of the cetaceans, and helps you live a wholehearted life full of joy and gratitude.

Three War-weary, damaged hearts find balance and form a bond of surprising strength but with war descending on them they may not have a lot of time in this gripping paranormal romance.

Slade was tortured for centuries, Magnus thought he could never have the woman of his dreams and Sylvia’s fighting her attraction to her stepson and the reader can’t help but get caught up in this emotionally gripping romance that captures the heart as Slade’s determination gives them all a glimmer of hope. The chemistry heats up every page and the sex scenes are scorching including m/m/f but the relationship is almost overcome by the all the emotional turbulence that these three have suffered and by the present situation. These strong, captivating characters grab your attention as they strive to reach for their chance at happily after and the fast paced, smooth flowing plot holds all the reader’s attention with suspense, excitement and romance.

The war is escalating and there are so many players with their own agendas that the excitement and action could come from any direction keeping everyone on their toes, with tension building from the possibility of betrayals and new alliances being made. Intriguing events draw the readers in and guarantee that they have to know what happens next and the well written scenes and details ensure that the readers can picture each and every event as it happens.

The fascinating dynamics of this world and the way that the author brings the prophecy into play not only keeps the characters guessing but the reader’s as well which adds mysticism and spice to the story while Dana Marie Bell also manages to keep the timeline flowing smoothly and full of never-ending excitement. Once again this series had me enthralled from the very beginning of the story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next as Ragnarrok looms ever closer.

Not Broken is the latest episode in Dana Marie Bell’s marvelous True Destiny series.

Now that his twin has found his mate, Magnus Tate feels the pull to settle down as well. He has always known he might find a mate of either gender, but when he learns that Loki’s son, Sleipnir (aka Slade) is his, he is delighted. When Slade tells him they have a third yet to claim, he is stunned to learn that it is the one woman he has desired his whole life; his former step-mother, Sylvia. But he also knows that she has been firmly under his grandmother’s control, and against his side of the family. When Sylvia comes to Magnus and Slade and tells them she wants to escape, along with Sydney Saeter (Logan’s ex-wife) they are thrilled, but cautious. If she is sincere, they may get the woman both want in their lives. They agree to a trial period, and as the forces that side with Grimm attack, they work alongside Magnus and the rest of the family to thwart the attacks. Can three wounded souls manage to come together and heal each other? Will Sylvia be able to convince Magnus and Slade of her true intent?

I love this world, with the Norse gods living in modern times, and it is my favorite literary ’soap opera’; just when you think everything is clear, Ms. Bell throws another curveball at you, bringing characters in and scrambling the story just a bit more.

Magnus is strong and determined. He is protective of his family, and that family just keeps growing. He has wanted Sylvia since she was married to his father, Thor, but has been afraid she will never see him for himself. I like that, when the opportunity presents itself to have everything he has ever wanted, he remains cautious, hoping for the best, but expecting nothing. With Slade, he has found a sort of contentment, but when Slade tells him that Sylvia is theirs, he is optimistic that they can have it all.

Slade is Loki’s son, and was tortured almost to death by Grimm before the family freed him. He is strong in spirit and determined to have the two people he has foreseen as his mates; Magnus and Sylvia. Still recovering from his torture, he still is willing to protect what is his, and learns that his father never stopped loving him, which gives him strength to keep going. I like Slade, with his core of inner strength and his totally off the wall sense of humor. He brings laughter into Magnus’ life and to all those he touches.

Sylvia is determined to break with the family that has controlled and abused her for so long. She didn’t realize she was as brave and strong as she was, until she took the future into her own hands and asked Magnus to help her make the break. She is stunned when Slade and Magnus claim her, and is determined to prove she will not bring disaster down on the growing Tate/Saeter clan. I liked watching as she realized how Magnus felt, and as she overcame the idea of having a relationship with her former step-son.

This is a story of three wounded souls, none complete on their own, but together they are so much more than apart. There are dangers around every corner, and some surprises I didn’t see coming that were an absolute delight. New additions to the family, besides Sylvia and Sydney, folks I hope to see in the future as Ms. Bell continues to spin this web of intrigue and passion to include more of the God of the Norse mythology. I recommend this for those with the imagination to believe in the unbelievable, and get lost in the passion and heat of True Destiny.

I'm almost always disappointed in the writing

I'm a big Dickens fans and will occasionally pick up a modern book that professes to be "Dickensian". I'm almost always disappointed in the writing. However this book did not disappoint; I get the sense that Ms. Waters really researched the vernacular of the day. Like Dickens, her plot was dense and yet fun. Maybe a bit slow in parts but overall a great romp with some awesome plots. And dare I add to all my fellow heterosexual readers - don't turn your nose up at this! It's a very fun read regardless of your sexual preferences. I will definitely look up some of Ms. Waters other books.

Fingersmith is AWESOMELY GREAT!

Beautifully written! Fingersmith has more twists and turns than the modern day thrillers that are my favorite genre. I love a novel with an unpredictable plot. If I can figure out the ending, I classify the text as formulaic and therefore unsatisfying. Fingersmith keeps the reader guessing and keeps the reader surprised. This is fiction, but yet it seems so realistic as it portrays betrayal, love, and trickery at its best! Wow! I would also classify this as great historical fiction. I plan to read more of Sarah Waters's work. This novel is more satisfying in plot development than one of her later works, The Paying Guests. (less)

A must read!

There are not enough stars to boast the worthiness of this book/author! I read the 582 pages in just under three full days. To say I couldn't put it down is an understatement. There are more twists and surprises in this book than I have experienced in a long time, and I'm an avid reader. The writing is rich with vivid descriptions that sets the camera rolling in your head. The characters are fully developed and unique to themselves. I absolutely love this book and have recommended it on my Facebook page.

Deceiving title - excellent book

When you read a blurb, 'How exploration transformed medicine in the twentieth century," you expect the book to be about "how exploration transformed medicine in the twentieth century!"

This book started out in that vein...talking about the death of Robert Falcon Scott in Antarctica...but that was the last time exploration came into this book! I expected to learn about how folks were going into the jungles of the Amazon, looking for plants that could cure horrible diseases, or diving in oceans looking for kelp or the toxin of some dangerous fish that could actually help mankind...but it was not to be.

It was more a reminiscence of Fong's time as an internist, and recounting of various modern day medical stories.

So to begin with I was pretty annoyed that I wasn't getting what I had expected, but to be honest the book as it is, *is* pretty interesting. We do learn a great deal about medicine - told in terms a layperson can understand - and about advances in medical care and how the determination of a patient can tip the scales for the better...

So I do recommend this book for anyone who is interested in healthcare and medicine and how doctors are helping patients through hypothermia, burn victims...all the way through to what astronauts will have to face on the way to Mars due to the health deterioration caused by weightlessness (as a matter of fact, what astronauts today have gone through - those that have lived on the space station for months at a time.)

If you're looking for how exotic plants or animals might help improve medical care, this is not the book for you. If you're looking ot learn how doctors have helped people who have suffered extreme health issues due to accident, check it out.

Fascinating medical details but the author wanders a bit

The subtitle of this book is a little misleading; while the medicine described is (or was when it was first developed) extreme, very little of it was actually brought about by exploration. The first chapter, ‘Ice’ starts with the exploration of Antarctica, which did teach us a lot about dealing with extreme cold and hypothermia, which eventually led to the use of hypothermia during radical surgeries and other treatments. ‘Fire’, which tells about the beginnings of plastic surgery and skin grafts, is based in WW 1 and how many pilots were burned beyond recognition when their planes burnt around them in battle. ‘Trauma’ shows us the first ambulance use in the Napoleonic Wars and how the trauma protocol was invented by a doctor who crashed the small plane he was flying with his family as passengers. Polio led to life support machines and ICU style care- supporting vital systems to give the body time to heal itself. Still, even though the title isn’t accurate, it’s an interesting book. The author jumps around a lot; it’s not a smooth narrative. Sometimes he gives a historical account, sometimes he writes about his own experiences (and he has had a lot of experiences; he got a degree in physics before he turned to medicine and has worked with NASA), sometimes he tells us about what happens to the body in these extreme situations. Those were the parts I found most fascinating, especially in the ‘Ice’ chapter, when he recounts how a skier went hypothermic to the point that her heart stopped, but because she was so cold, brain damage did not occur even though she went three hours without a heartbeat. An interesting book but it wanders a bit.

well written, a bit thin at times

I enjoyed reading this book and felt I learned about how some areas of medicine have advanced and about the pioneers in the field. The book includes stories about the advent of the ICU in the rush to save polio victims, how horrific war injuries led to advances in plastic surgery, and more. At the same time I felt there were chapters that felt "thin". For example the chapter on aging introduces a remarkable WWI veteran, yet seemed thin to me on explaining what is going on in the aging process. Or, for that matter, once we became interested in the chap, in explaining what happened to him. Overall I'd say its a good book but could have used few chapters in more depth.

Excellent book - Highly recommend latest version !!

I was involved in an accident in January during a snowstorm. I did research alot of books about settling a car accident claim on my own without using a lawyer and that had good information regarding accidents. I ordered 2 books and this was by far THE BEST !! The latest version 1.0.5 had everything I needed about handling my claim on my own which saved me thousands of dollars that a lawyer would have charged. Plus it made me more knowledgeable about car accident and what to do in general. The secret forumla really works. I applied everything step by step like the book showed in a ver EASY to use format, you don't have to read alot of long winded garbage found in other books. This latest edition gets straight to the point. It tells you exactly what to do, how to do it and what you should expect when you settle. I cannot rave about it enough since I settled for $12,845.00. Never did I think I could have been awarded that much in the case but the book outlined things I never saw in the other book I purchased. I had more ways to get more money out of my claim than I ever imagined. The STEP by STEP approach also really one me over and the fact that there are REAL LIFE examples from the book that prove you can really do it yourself and keep more of your settlement. A third of your money does not have to go to lawyers it can go directly in your pocket. Again I cannot thank this book enough and I am so glad it is available !!!!!!

General Knowledge and know how

This book is great if you need basic quick knowledge on the subject. I purchased 3 books about car wrecks and personal injury. This one is a easy read and quick. I liked his formula which talks about the work you lost plus the cost of the accident plus pain and suffering. I don't know why he times it by 1-5. The only trouble is most car wrecks are difficult to nail down in cost and insurance adjusters have the upper hand on us. I don't know all the legal stuff adjusters know. But this book is helpful to those who need a quick know how of what to do in a fender bender accident. I wish it had more information in it. Price point wise. I don't think it's worth what amazing is asking for what you get. It should be more around the range of six to eight dollars. Because the book is short and I felt like I read a well written pamphlet. I just wish it would have had more detail and situations. Every car accident is different every state has different laws. You usually get burned by adjusters and a lot depends on luck, timing specific details and how bad the accident really was.

If things are really bad at your car accident or if you get an adjuster that is mean and sneaky, get a lawyer. Not one you've seen on the T.V. ask doctors or your chiropractor or friends and family or anyone you know that has been in a car accident. Most people will point you to a good lawyer.

I'm not a professional review writer. I probably made a thousand mistakes in this review. But I give it 4 stars out of 5.

Great book, Really helped me

I got in an accident, someone hit me and caused about 800$ of damage to my car. The car was towed to a garage and I needed a loaner. I wish I had bought the book before I got hit. I made 2 mistakes with the garage and the loaner car, if I had read the book it would have saved me even more money. Thank goodness I found the book on the internet after the accident. I used the book, the forms and the secret formula to get a great settlement from the "other" drivers insurance cmpany. Before I read the book I thought my insurance company and me would have to pay for the damages I received. The book also includes a chart that shows based on an accident who pays for what. It also tells you how to talk to the other insurance company. Without the book I would have never received the amount I did.

This is a fantastic book! The material is relevant not only to the field of intercollegiate athletics, but to education in general. In addition, the book does a great job of identifying, explaining and interpreting via data-driven methods, the critical issues in the field. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in performing education research and/or in understanding relevant issues in education and intercollegiate athletics.
